Specifying the Right Slab for the Load
The thickness and reinforcement of a shed slab depend on what it will support. A light garden shed needs a far lighter slab than one that has to carry a vehicle on a hoist, a heavy lathe or compactor, or a loaded pallet racking system.

Vehicles, machinery, a hoist, heavy racking or trailer legs all change the slab specification. Knowing the intended use up front lets us pour a slab that will not crack under it, without over-speccing and wasting money.
Sequencing the Slab With the Shed Build
The slab goes down first, then the shed is built or installed on top. This is always the sequence because the shed frame bolts to anchor bolts cast into the slab, or to chemical anchors drilled in after curing.
Coordinate the shed dimensions before we pour
Send us the slab specification or the shed supplier's dimension drawing before work starts. Matching the bolt-down layout while the concrete is wet is easy. Moving a bolt-down once the concrete has set is not.

Yes, but the slab specification changes. A vehicle storage shed needs a thicker, more heavily reinforced slab with a slight fall to the door for drainage, compared with a light garden shed base.
On most Perth sites a polythene vapour barrier under the slab is good practice, particularly for enclosed sheds used as workshops or studios where dampness through the floor is undesirable. We include this in the specification where it is appropriate.
We handle access challenges regularly. Where a concrete truck cannot reach, we can use a pump or wheelbarrow from the truck to the pour location. Access is something we assess at the quote.
